Maker Heights
A creative landscape, carefully held
Set on the Rame Peninsula in South East Cornwall, Maker Heights is where landscape, history and creativity meet. Centred around the Barrack Block’s studios, gallery and music venue — with the surrounding Nissen Huts home to The Canteen, campsite reception and independent makers — our role was to create a unified identity and digital presence that reflects this vibrant ecosystem while preserving the individuality of the people and spaces that define it.

Identity rooted in the site
The Maker marque is derived from the architectural plan of the Barrack Block, rooting the identity directly in the site’s fabric. Designed as a flexible graphic device, the ‘M’ can shift through negative space to reveal other letters — forming an ‘H’ for Heritage Open Days and an ‘E’ for the Elevation Film Festival. For the Rame Conservation Trust, the mark is split to create a ‘C’. The result is a simple form with a life beyond itself — a mark that adapts across Maker’s programme while remaining unmistakably part of the same visual family.
A digital gateway to Maker
Alongside the identity, we designed and developed a website that reflects the spirit of the place while providing a clear and accessible gateway for visitors, artists and collaborators. The platform brings together information about the studios, events, campsite and wider community, helping people understand not just what Maker Heights is, but how it feels to spend time there.
Elevation Film Festival has quickly established itself as a standout event within the Maker programme. Celebrating independent film in an extraordinary setting, the festival brings together filmmakers, audiences and creatives for a weekend of screenings, conversation and community. Following a hugely successful first year, Elevation is now entering its second edition and continuing to grow — building momentum and strengthening Maker Heights’ reputation as a vibrant cultural destination on the Rame Peninsula.
